Hotel California Gabriella Quevedo

facebooktwittergoogle_plusredditpinterestlinkedinmailby feather

I’d love to have this sparkling beverage in my cup——in my room on the top floor of the Hotel California.
Seriously though folks, Gabriella is a superb guitarist; this is, without doubt, the best Eagles cover ever recorded even though it’s just one instrument. Click photo to listen, then go to her Facebook Group for more… https://www.facebook.com/…/851909…/user/100044336984141/

From WIKI:
“Gabriella Evelina Quevedo (born 12 January 1997, Kinna, Sweden) is a Swedish guitarist. She grew up in Kinna and developed an interest in guitar because her father played the instrument. Her father is from Argentina and her mother is Argentine-Swedish. In addition to Swedish, she also speaks English and she understands Spanish.’

‘She began playing guitar at age twelve, quickly discovering, and mastering fingerstyle guitar techniques, which led to her recording a number of covers of other guitarists’ performances and her own guitar arrangements on YouTube. As of April 2021, Gabriella’s YouTube channel had 1.44 million subscribers and 237 million views. Selected covers have also been published in other channels. In July 2018 an album entitled Acoustic Cover Songs Vol. 1 containing 16 songs appeared on Spotify, iTunes, Deezer, Amazon Music, Google Play Music, Tidal, YouTube Music and Apple Music. Gabriella’s first original songs, “Last Time” and “Remember”, were released at the end of 2019. They were recorded at Mono Music studio in Stockholm, established by former ABBA member Benny Andersson.”

Papa don’t take no mess – A Look into the Soul of James Brown

Papa don’t take no mess

Papa don't take no mess
Papa don’t take no mess

From Wikipedia:
“Papa Don’t Take No Mess” is a funk song performed by James Brown. An edited version of the song released as a two-part single in 1974 was Brown’s final number one R&B hit and peaked at number thirty-one on the Hot 100.[1][2] The full-length version, nearly 14 minutes long, appeared on the double album Hell.” Read more…

.I was looking for something else and I found this, wow… Sneak a peek at the true character of The Hardest Working Man In Showbusiness, as he was called in life. (James Brown passed away on December 25, 2006, after a weeklong battle with pneumonia. He was 73 years old. James Brown is unquestionably one of the most influential musical pioneers of the last half-century.)

There’s an ongoing piano solo by the man himself weaving through the last part (around 6:18) of the song. It’s a window into his soul if you will; It’s totally abstract: sometimes atonal, sometimes nonsensical, sometimes automatistic, always out of the box and always good. He’s much more playful than I ever thought he’d be, it’s crazy good. I recommend earphones…

I’m not certain what it means, I’m not an expert in Jive Culture, but I’m pretty sure it means that Papa won’t take crap off of anyone.

Panettone French Toast
Panettone French Toast

When the Christmas season rolls around one sees so many of those red and gold boxes in the food stores, it’s the Italian Christmas-bread, Panettone.

I doubt that it’s a coincidence that this regal loaf is shaped like a crown and embedded with jewel-like bits of fruit. Continue reading

Celebrity Visitors

For many years, from the time Graceland opened to the public on June 7, 1982, the tour guide staff informally kept a list of the celebrities who visited. We’ve missed a few names along the way and, unfortunately, we did not always keep track of the dates. Once we created this feature for the web site, record-keeping of celebrity visits became a bit more formalized. Our list is updated continually as more celebrities visit and we continue to add names we missed from years past whenever someone recalls one. If you know of someone we missed and, please do let us know and we’ll add the name if we can document the visit. In all the hubbub around here, word sometimes doesn’t get to the web staff to post. E-mails from fans to help out are always appreciated.

UNPOPULAR OPINION: THE ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME IS A SCAM

facebooktwittergoogle_plusredditpinterestlinkedinmailby feather

Forward by W Carbone, LasVegasBuffetClub.com

The following article is interesting, however the author – since he’s writing about rock & roll – takes the approach that he’s above it all, speaking down to us from his high-horse of being a rock and roll journalist, loading the article with the mandatory “sh–” and “fuc—-,” so juvenile. This is a warning, you may be offended.

It's like the Louvre, but awful. -Derek Jensen
It’s like the Louvre, but awful. -Derek Jensen

It never fails. I write something, someone doesn’t like it, and they feel the need to seek me out and tell me about it. It’s never really surprising, even if I don’t understand it. I can barely muster the energy to tell people I know personally how much I disagree with them. When I do, I almost always regret it. My recent Green Day screed touched a nerve, as my screeds tend to do. One of the most bizarre and common objections to my dislike of Green Day is that Green Day are in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Let me explain it like you’re 5: The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a scam. It’s not Cooperstown with guitars. The expert committee that “inducts” people is thinking about how to get tourist dollars into Cleveland, not how to preserve a legacy of one of America’s finest home-grown art forms. Don’t believe me? Ask Gene Simmons. If you think the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is any measure of how good a band is, you seriously don’t know shit about anything. Continue reading

Think you know great sex?

Nevada’s famed Moonlite Bunny Ranch brothel is on the prowl for official “quality” control testers who not only get paid to have sex with their prostitutes but to then evaluate their performance.

“I’m looking for someone who’s fun, has some personality and wants to have a good time,” Dennis Hof, whose seven brothels make up 40% of North America’s legal bordellos and starred in the hit HBO series “Cathouse,” told the Daily News.

The ideal candidate must have “stamina” as well, he added.

“Are they going to be able to perform? Because it’s work. Not everyone is a Ron Jeremy,” he said while mentioning the legendary porn star who touts himself as “the Hardest Man in Showbiz.”

Ranch spokesman Marc Medoff also stressed their “secret shopers”[sic] as needing to be experienced, educated, and “well rounded.”

“Obviously a very young person or a person who has not traveled or been around would not be ideal,” he said. “We want somebody who gives us a true, honest, worldly perspective.”

That includes female applicants.

“We’d love to have a woman or two,” he said. “Even couples to be honest with you. A lot of our customers are couples.” read more
