The Golden Gate Hotel's Official Website

The following information is from Golden Gates Website:
"Our boutique hotel was recently renovated and expanded, adding a 35,000-square-foot luxury tower with 16 suites, an expanded gaming floor with a high-limit pit featuring our signature dancing dealers, and a new lobby displaying artifacts from our historical past. The result is an intimate 122 room hotel that is energetic and contemporary, yet preserves our historic character."

"All of our guest rooms are furnished with pillow-top mattresses, flat-screen TV’s, iHome clock radios, in-room coffee, cable TV, voicemail and computer ports."

"The history of the Las Vegas original, which opened its doors at One Fremont Street in 1906, spans the roaring 20s, Prohibition, Rat Pack era and now the 21st century. Break free from the mega-hassle of Strip resorts for an authentic Las Vegas experience at the Golden Gate."

Our friendly reservations staff is always available at (800) 426-1906.

The following excerpt is from a few years ago:
"Established in 1906, the Golden Gate is proud to be Las Vegas' most historic hotel/casino and the smallest hotel on Fremont Street, with only 106 rooms. Our guests can enjoy the intimate atmosphere of an historic hotel and then step outside our front doors into the grandeur and excitement of the Fremont Street Experience, with dazzling free light shows and special events. Our shrimp cocktail started a Las Vegas tradition over 40 years ago, and still is named "Best of Las Vegas" year after year. We offer great accommodations, plenty of gambling action and excellent food in a warm and friendly environment."  (Excerpt is from The Golden Gate's Official Website.)

BCD   Name change/New management
The BAY CITY DINER at the Golden Gate is a favorite of the LAS VEGAS BUFFET CLUB.  You can do: pancakes, full breakfasts, salads, full meals and of course coffee. Reminiscent of a big city diner, this is a great escape from the Las Vegas norm (see below.) Try for the center booth in the back

The Bay City Diner is now DU-PAR'S RESTAURANT AND BAKERY - OPEN 24 HOURS.

Real "Big City Diner"

This hotel's BAY CITY DINER (Now Du-Pars) has been used for a number of Motion Pictures by Hollywood.  Movie history: It appeared, along with many other classic Fremont Street casinos, in the film Honey, I Blew Up the Kid.

In the movie PAY IT FORWARD, Helen Hunt worked at The Golden Gate's Bay City Diner.

"Have any of you seen the movie "Pay It Forward"? I did, but after I moved back to Boston in 2002. It was filmed in Las Vegas, and I remember flipping out when there was a scene with Helen Hunt as a change lady. At the Golden Gate. Well, Kevin Spacey's character brings her flowers and they have the awkward "I like you but can't really tell you" conversation, and then? They speak of the diner."  Read more...

DRINK
  • ONE BAR
"Our latest Las Vegas original features beautiful bikini-clad bartenders dancing and serving a refreshing array of frozen drinks and ice cold beer amidst the pulsing lights and rocking rhythms of Fremont Street."
"These delicious drinks are chilled by the only geo-thermal system in a Las Vegas casino—plus, it keeps our barely-covered bartenders warm in the winter!
    Original. Authentic. Cool."
  • BAR PROHIBITION!"On December 5, 2013, Golden Gate Hotel & Casino celebrated 80 years since the dark days of Prohibition by fittingly renaming our original casino bar, “Bar Prohibition!"
ENTERTAINMENT
The Fremont Street Experience "You can't do this on the Strip: Party inside with Dancing Dealers and take a few easy steps outside onto Las Vegas' most dynamic street.
Look ten stories up at fantastic light shows on the world's biggest video monster (yes, it's gigantic).
The Fremont Street Experience is four neon blocks of party action with 3 stages, dancing DJ's, tribute bands, a zip-line overhead and bars everywhere. And it's free. Really."
"We've hosted some of the biggest names in music—from Lady Antebellum to Neon Trees—along with NASCAR drivers, bull riders and the most beautiful girls in the world competing for the title of Miss Universe. So grab a cold beer at
OneBar and join the crowd cruising the street … where Las Vegas started!"  "Forget the Strip mega-hassle. Spend less time walking and more time dancing in the street!"

PLAY
  • "In the Roaring 20s, 'flappers' were a brash, new breed of young women who wore short skirts, listened to hot music and partied until the neon lights gave way to the morning sun. They mocked socially acceptable behavior and, oh, how they loved to dance!"
"Today, our sexy Dancing Dealers take these venerable Las Vegas traditions of gambling, dancing and good times to a whole new level!"
  • "The Golden Gate blends the latest in slots and video with traditional craps, blackjack, and newer table games like 3-card poker and Let It Ride, all in the setting of Las Vegas' most historic hotel."
