Little Man Ice Cream in Denver, Colorado “can.”

Little Man Ice Cream in Denver...
This fine photo is from Westword magazine. FYI: The photo has a copper-cast. The actual color is pewter.

A Denver gem, just on the outskirts of downtown Denver, Little Man Ice Cream is housed in a perfectly scaled and finished, vintage, Cream-Can building. Reminiscent of 1940’s – 50’s Hot Dog or Donut stands which were built to look like an old shoe or a piece of food, this Cream-Can is fashioned from welded steel then finished to look just like the real thing. The thing is, the Cream-Can is a perfect representation. This hip piece of pop-art has a Ghirardelli Square vibe – eventhough it’s just one small building! Yea, I know…

“Little Man Ice Cream is located at the corner of 30th & Tejon… across the Highland Bridge at the end of 16th Street.”

“Little Man Ice Cream will be more than just an ice cream shop! We will be
making our own ice creams created by chefs. We will use only hormone-free
and organic ingredients when available. We will also make our own ice cream
bars and sandwiches. Every flavor will be unique and incredible!”

This information is from Little Man’s website.

Online Casinos Needed by Congress, Says AGA President

facebooktwittergoogle_plusredditpinterestlinkedinmailby feather

The LasVegasBuffetClub's Ace...

The following article was culled from the Interactive Gaming Council’s Official Website:

“Fahrenkopf asserts that there may be billions in revenue for the federal government through taxation of online casinos.” By Matt Miller – Online Casino Advisory.com – November 16, 2008 – The land casino industry is starting to examine options regarding online casinos. Last week, the president of the American Gaming Association offered his opinion that legalized online gambling is the future in the United States.

Frank Fahrenkopf runs the organization responsible for representing the giant casino operators. On the board of the AGA are such gambling executives as Steve Wynn, Gary Loveman of Harrah’s Entertainment, and Dan Lee of Pinnacle. This group has extensively lobbied in the past to keep Internet competition at bay by banning it.

But now, giant land casino resorts are next to impossible to finance, and revenues are dropping as travel becomes too expensive for many gamblers. And a new vision is taking place at the American Gaming Association.

Fahrenkopf sees the legalization and regulation of Internet gambling as key to Congressional budgets. Fahrenkopf, who knows politics from his days as chairman of the Republican Party during the Reagan Presidency, says in an interview with the Reno Gazette, “…any Congressman or Senator who introduces a piece of legislation that is going to cost something will also have to show how they are going to pay for it, either by cutting spending in one place or raising taxes in another. So we know under those circumstances, they will be looking around at a place to get additional revenue.”

Fahrenkopf asserts that there may be billions in revenue for the federal government through taxation of online casinos. And it’s clear through his statements that some of his members are rethinking online gambling.

Fahrenkopf mentions that Harrah’s, as owner of the World Series of Poker, would be interested in exploring Internet opportunities. And he also mentions MGM Mirage as being another company eyeing the great returns on relatively minuscule investment of online casino gambling.

The net result is that a lobby dedicated to preventing any incursions by Internet casinos now may reverse itself, pressing for online gambling as best for all concerned.

By Las Vegas Sun’s Tim Richardson – Tue, Nov 18, 2008 (1:32 p.m.)
MGM Mirage announced today it is teaming up with an Asian development company to build a “Las Vegas-style” casino in Vietnam.

Asian Coast Development Ltd. will own and finance the MGM Grand Ho Tram. MGM Mirage will give development assistance and operate the resort property when it’s completed.

MGM Grand Ho Tram will anchor a $4.2 billion resort complex being built along the South China Sea beaches about 80 miles from Ho Chi Minh City. The hotel will have 1,100 rooms, a gaming area, luxury retail, live entertainment stages and beachfront recreation.

“MGM Grand Ho Tram’s prime beach-front location affords us an even greater opportunity to provide our guests with a spectacular experience,” Lloyd Nathan, executive vice president of MGM Mirage Global Gaming Development said in a statement released Tuesday. He said the resort will be “a showplace for the further development of high-end international tourism in Vietnam.”

Asian Coast Development Ltd. has broken ground on the resort, which is expected to open in 2011. It will be surrounded by a Greg Norman-designed 18-hole golf course.

Wild Horses - Discover magazine...

“Madeleine Pickens, wife of the eccentric billionaire tycoon T. Boone Pickens, wants to ride to the rescue of a beleaguered national icon. The wild horses that have been an emblem of the wide-open American West for centuries more recently became a major headache for the federal government, which routinely removes some of the horses from 1o [sic] Western states to prevent overpopulation and protect grazing land. But as the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) holding facilities grew crowded, federal officials gingerly announced that they were considering a euthanasia program to cull the herds at their facilities and contain costs” read more from Discover magazine… [Wild horse photo is from Discover magazine’s website.]

“The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has announced plans to kill America’s wild horses rather than effectively manage our wild natural heritage.”

“BLM claims it can no longer afford to round up wild horses and confine them until it finds people to adopt them, and the agency wants to euthanize these majestic wild beauties or sell them to the highest bidder “without limitation” – meaning sell them to anyone, even if the bidder also plans to kill these horses.” read more…

“Singer-songwriter Sheryl Crow is not a celebrity-come-lately to the wild horse debate. She owns horses, including an adopted wild mustang, and has campaigned for the protection of the herds for years.”
“Crow has lent her support to the Cloud Foundation, a Colorado-based organization dedicated to preserving wild horses on the range and to finding homes for those already in captivity.”
“In a backstage interview, Crow summed up the urgency of the moment, “33,000 horses are being held right now by the BLM and due to budgetary problems, they’re saying now they can’t afford to feed them, which is kind of a great excuse to exterminate them.”
