La Loma Traditional Mexican Restaurant

La Loma is the Real-Deal traditional, Mexican restaurant in an old house in the “old neighborhood.”

As I sat at the patio (above left behind the wall) behind a thick vine as patches of sunlight, cool shade and leaves were soothing the mind as the very decent Margarita was soothing the rest of me, I thought that this may be the very best traditional Mexican restaurant in the Denver area.

Knowing about the patio but never sitting there, as we did yesterday, was like discovering a new restaurant. The old patio is adorned with old brick of varying shapes and shades, wood shutters and as aforementioned, a wall of lacy vines – not to mention white tablecloths on the dozen or so tables along the narrow patio. This is the class of Mexican culture at it’s very best.

This old, Denver tradition, Mexican restaurant on the west-side is serving classic Mexican food in an old house (the house on Diamond Hill) built in 1887. The restaurant is richly decorated in rich woods with dark accents, high ceilings with skylights, quality tables/chairs/booths, a warm inviting vibe and a vintage tortilla machine. A cozy bar for 10-12 is the perfect place to wait a few minutes for a table. Happy hour (Mon – Sat/ 2pm – 6pm) offers $6-7 Margaritas, wine, beer and discounted apps.

The menu (click the main website) offers the classics: Enchiladas (two/ $9.75-10.25,) Tacos (3/ $9.95-11.25,) Burritos (2/ $8.75-10.50,) Combinations: 1/ 7.95 2/ 10.25 3/ 12.25 4/ 13.95 as well as Fajitas (around $10.95-$16.95, $25.25, for two) and other specialties – check the La Loma’s website for the full menu. The salsa is thick and hot and the tortillas are hand crafted. This my friends is a good restaurant.

The main dining room is warm and cozy of course, also with dark woods, a high ceiling and cozy booths.

The lovely Juana, all in black, graced our table with good cheer and Latin beauty.

Colorado sherrif who was sentenced to just over a month in jail for trading meth for sex admits to “possibly” having threesome with 13 year-old.

facebooktwittergoogle_plusredditpinterestlinkedinmailby feather

Ex-Sherrif Pat Sullivan also said that “it’s possible” that he “walked in” on 2 boys having sex in locker room while working at Cherry Creek School and told them that he wouldn’t “tell” if they let him join in. He also admits that he gave date-rape drug to 30-something man with cognitive brain disorder.

The ex-sheriff is now free. He was not added to the sexual offender’s list. It appears that the ex-sheriff’s stellar career in law-enforcement earned him a get-out-of-jail card. Don’t we hope that the judges/lawyers know what they’re doing?

Upcoming anniversary of Columbine school massacre brings new speculation/information/cover-up? to the table

Drawing by Columbine shooter Eric Harris

Story by William Carbone
LasVegasBuffetclub.Com

With the anniversary of the Columbine school-shootings coming up on April 20, Columbine is in the news again. This morning, Denver’s (KHOW Radio 630) Peter Boyles’ was talking about the Columbine shooters as he’s been doing for the past several days. Talking specifically about the possibility that – a year before the shootings at Columbine – Harris & Klebold were “mishandled” by police at the time of their well-publicized arrest “from the night of January 30, 1998 when Eric and Dylan were arrested for breaking into a van and stealing items contained their[sic] in.” The speculation is that possible “mishandling” by authorities triggered the Columbine Massacre. Abuse? Sexual abuse? These terms were mentioned several times during the interviews by guests and Boyles. Even the name of X-Arapahoe County Sherrif Patrick Sullivan’s – who last week received a slap-on-the-wrist sentence in a trading-meth-for-sex charge – name was brought up. See previous post (below.)

The drawing above by Eric Harris possibly depicts (according to some including the mother of one of Columbine’s survivors, Donna Taylor, mother of wounded Columbine survivor Mark Taylor) the aforementioned abuse by the police that night of January 30, 1998.

“In November of 2000, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office released 11,000 pages of interviews and reports to the public. In the 11,000 pages are reports from the arresting officers of January 30, 1998. They can be found at pages 10560 through 10603. The entire 11,000 pages can be downloaded from the Boulder News here. Page 10589 is a drawing by Eric of the scene that night” (above.)

“The drawing depicts where the van was, where Eric and Dylan were and where a couple of other vehicles were parked that night. The circles above the cars are rocks that divide the parking area from a field. This happened along Dear Creek Canyon Road in Littleton. Above the rocks is a field of weeds with no distinguishing natural landmarks of any sort. However, as you can see, Eric drew something there.”

“Some have speculated what this picture represents. The following explains what they see. Look at the picture carefully, it maybe better to print this page so that you can see it better. Take a bottle of white out and remove the horizontal page lines. Next remove the three angled lines just above the center left of the drawing. Next remove the swirls of the drawing, leaving the right part of the drawing alone. If you did this right, what should be left is a drawing of person on all fours with another person standing behind them. Notice how the standing person has a star on his chest. Some people believe that the drawing is of a child being sexually assaulted by a police officer. Below are their arguments for their case.” read more from Columbine-Angels.Com/family_request

My take on the above is that perhaps the figure of “a child’ is more of a figure of a dog/animal with a tail. Maybe Harris was “saying” that he was treated like a dog by police. This seems more accurate to me, but it’s just speculation along with my ability to see.

Also on the program this morning was Columbine lawyer who reportedly deposed the parents of both Harris and Klebold, *John DeCamp. He claims that he can explain many things about Columbine. He seems to believe in the “mishandling” theory by authorities as well as the cover up by drug companies of the drug Luvox. Eric Harris was using Luvox at the time of the Colorado tragedy.

Well, stay tuned to Denver radio tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. Denver time. Boyles will be talking about this situation once again. Lawyer John Decamp will be there discussing his theories. He sounds a bit sketchy to me. I guess we’ll see.

*DeCamp was previously (2002) involved in a lawsuit “that claimed several video game distributors and moviemakers shared blame for the Columbine High School massacre.” That case was dismissed by U.S. District Judge Lewis Babcock.

The name of the Arapahoe County detention center “The Patrick J. Sullivan Detention Center” is gone, Patrick Sullivan will remain, at least throughout his 30 day sentence.

The name reverts back to the original name, Arapahoe County Detention Center, after commissioners voted to remove Sullivans’ name from the facility. Original story below.

The following story is from the Huffington Post:

Patrick Sullivan, Ex-Colo. Sheriff, Pleads Guilty To Meth-For-Sex Charges (PHOTOS, VIDEO)
04/ 3/12 04:45 PM ET

CENTENNIAL, Colo. — A former Colorado sheriff known for his crusade against youth drug use has pleaded guilty to charges of trading methamphetamine for sex.

Patrick Sullivan pleaded guilty Tuesday to felony possession of methamphetamine and a misdemeanor count of solicitation for prostitution. He was the sheriff in Arapahoe County from 1984 until 2002.

The 69-year-old was arrested after a sting operation last year in which investigators say he offered methamphetamine to a man in exchange for sex. He was held in custody in a jail that was named after him.

Prosecutors say they want Sullivan to serve time behind bars, while defense attorneys are seeking probation finish this story

From the editor: The rumor around Denver is that Sullivan got this slap-on-the-wrist because allegedly he can roll-over on Denver fat-cats who might be implicated if he testifies. Maybe this isn’t over yet…

UPDATE April 7, 2012: What’s it all about? Here’s an older story from Westword magazine:
Pat Sullivan: Tales of meth for masturbation, gay porn in bust of ex-Arapahoe sheriff.

“according to a probable cause affidavit on view below, he’s been busy lately. On October 4, the document states, Arapahoe County deputies received a call about an “unwanted male party” at a home in Centennial. According to CBS4, the home in question provides shelter for recovering addicts — and apparently, some of them wanted the man later identified as Sullivan to hit the highway.”

Just shy of a month later, on November 13, members of the South Metro Drug Task Force were told by a pair of confidential informants that they would “definitely” be able to obtain meth from Sullivan in exchange for “sexual acts” — something they said they’d done before. Shortly thereafter, a series of phone calls and text messages led to a planned rendezvous in Aurora.

The affidavit notes that the home was outfitted with audio and video equipment prior to the planned meeting. That gear later recorded Sullivan handing the source a packet that tested positive for meth in the bedroom of the house. Sullivan also had a second bag of meth on his person when cops swooped in and took him into custody.

In the wake of the arrest, a search of Sullivan’s home was conducted, with what’s described as a large quantity of gay pornography being seized. Meanwhile, Jonathan Elinoff, a producer for embattled KHOW host Tom Martino, provided law enforcement and CBS4 with videotape of an interview conducted with one William Hadley, who said he and Sullivan had shared drugs and more plenty of times in the past.

“I mean we’ve sat at Cheesman Park in his (Sullivan’s) SUV and smoked the fuck out of a lot of dope,” Hadley said. He added that he’d masturbated in front of Sullivan at the former sheriff’s request — and he wasn’t the only one. A second man interviewed by Elinoff claimed that Sullivan buys addicts drugs “in order for them to take their clothes off. That’s the power he has over them, their addiction.” read more from Westword

Dude gets 30 days from Arapahoe County Chief District Judge William Sylvester.

Colorado Deputy Attorney General Michael Dougherty, a special “prosecutor” took over the case from the Arapahoe district attorney.

Practice makes perfect: Pasquini’s Cherry Creek in Denver

Pasquini’s Pizzeria
Cherry Creek
240 Milwaukee Street
Denver, CO
(303)-355-1177

Pasquini’s started out around the mid 80s as a small pizzeria on South Broadway in Denver, Colorado offering pizza, pasta, sandwiches and salads. Previously a pizza parlor called The Pizza Queen was doing business at the location. When Tony Pasquini’s family started doing business under the family name, there were a few tables in front of the working, exposed kitchen. In the early 90s they expanded and added an upstairs dining room and bar, THE BLUE LUNA ROOM. Instantly hip and Denver-cool, The Blue Luna Room was replete with good-crazy colors, inlaid tables, mis-matching chairs, marginal to fine art-for-sale and, at one time, a small venue for music. The menu was expanded by then, offering creative pizzettas, most-excellent salads and more. The original pizza and pasta remained on the menu. Several other locations were opened between then and now. Visit Pasquini’s website for more information.

Even before a customer has fully settled into one of the chairs or booth-seats, a plate of buttered (pizza dough) bread-sticks is offered with a side of marinara, gratis. This could be a meal in itself with a sprinkling of grated cheese, pepper flakes and the marinara – instant gratification when one is hungry. Pasquini’s has always been and continues to be an excellent pizza and pasta joint.

Practice makes perfect certainly applies to Pasquini’s new location in Cherry Creek. Note the creative, hanging window- space-dividers (top right – below) that help separate the dining area from the bar. The floating effect is achieved with a few eye-let bolts and flat-chain. The red, leather/vinyl booths are cozy and comfortable. Try to score the huge horse-shoe shaped booth (third booth from right) in the main dining area. No reservations…

The restaurant, nicely appointed, has the same-type, creative decorating gems that helped rock the Blue Luna Room, such as the aforementioned room-dividers, hand built back-bar, table-top inlaid (under glass) with beer-bottle caps, mismatching plate-ware and good-crazy colors. There is also a wood-burning pizza oven resembling in-style a Pasquini’s Blue Luna Room dining table inlaid with mosaic tiles.

The menu has also been cranked up a notch or three with appetizers such as: Eggplant Rotoli ($5.95) Breaded eggplant wrapped around fresh mozzarella cheese and fresh basil, baked and drizzled with lemon juice, served with a side of marinara. Yea, it’s as tasty as it sounds! This is food-channel stuff. Also from the App menu: Meatball Sliders ($5.95) Four mini meatball subs topped with marinara, mozzarella and Parmigiano Reggiano, Prosciutto Stuffed Portobello ($5.95) With red onion, garlic, breadcrumbs and Parmigiano Reggiano.

At Happy Hour: Monday-Friday 4pm-6pm and 9pm-11pm; Saturday-Sunday 11am-6pm and 9pm-11pm the Sliders and the Eggplant Rotoli can be had for four bucks each. Also Napolitana Pizzas for ten bucks as well as beer, wine and well specials ($2 and $3.) One can get very happy here.

The 100% Organic Flour, Neapolitan Pizzas (thicker than New York style) are well built with copious amounts of cheese: 10″ Pizzeta ($9.95,) 12″ Small ($13.95,) 14″ Medium ($16.95,) 16″ Large ($19.95) and 18″ Extra Large ($22.95) are also available with whole wheat crust for another dollar. Gluten-free pizza is available. The usual suspects of the topping variety are available. Napolitana Style Pizzas: One size crafted from Organic Flour with a classic thin artisan style crust, baked in the 800 degree wood burning oven “Available in house or while you wait only” ($12.95.)

Excellent in quality and size, plain to fancy salads are available – Small or Large $4.95 to $8.95. Sandwiches from the classics (5″ $6.95 – $8″ $8.95) to Gourmet Subs (5″ $6.95 – 8″ $10.95) or Focaccia Sandwiches ($9.95) are available.

Pasta & Specialties: From traditional Italian entrees, such as Homemade Lasagna ($13.95,) Spaghetti or Penne ($9.95,) Chicken or Eggplant Parmesan ($13.95,) to entrees with California Cuisine tags, Walnut Spinach and Ricotta Ravioli ($13.95) there’s something for (almost) every taste. All pasta dinners include garlic bread and organic mixed green salad. Whole wheat spaghetti or penne available for $1.00 extra. Gluten-free available. A long-standing specialty of Pasquini’s, Calzones are available for about ten dollars, including whole wheat Calzones for another buck. Visit Pasquinis website for the complete menus.

Pasquini’s is acquiring a reputation for their deserts, including their Tiramisu ($7.50,) Mud Pie Pyramid – Mocha and Vanilla Bean ice cream covered in Oreo cookie crumbs ($6.95) and more…

With a lively bar-scene, I predict, Pasquini’s is going to be the happening place in nouveau, hoity-toity Cherry Creek come this spring, along with the literal opening of the dining area: garage-type doors open to expose a good portion of the south-side of the restaurant to Denver’s gorgeous spring and summer weather. Huh! Can’t miss with these prices in pricey Cherry Creek.

Nice lighting…

“The place exudes character, and the food stands up to the atmosphere” according to Denver Post. Fresh pizza dough for kids to play with and the freedom to create their own pizza makes Pasquini’s the “Best Family Friendly Restaurant” according to Rocky Mountain News. Pasquini’s was named 5280 Magazine’s Top of the Town Best Pizza and Best of Westword’s Best Pizza, Best Chocolate Cake, Best Organic Salad, Best Garlic Bread and Best Subs.

Pasquini’s is a TrueItalianTable recommended, authentic Italian restaurant.

DENVER — Being crowned Miss Colorado 2011 was an amazing experience for Diana Dreman. It was pretty special for her mother, too.

It was 1973 when Rebecca King Dreman was also crowned Miss Colorado, before moving on to become Miss America in 1974.

“It’s been fun to be able to share history with her,” Diana said.

She is now gearing up for the Miss America competition that will be held in Las Vegas January 14.

It is the first time in the Miss America Pageant’s 90 year history that the daughter of a former Miss America will compete for that same title.

The 23-year-old CU graduate is hopeful.

All of this gives the family something exciting to think about during an otherwise tough time. Rebecca has melanoma, but is doing well.

Diana has now made fighting cancer part of her platform.

“It’s touching,” Rebecca said.

Teen in revealing yearbook photo flap: ‘It’s artistic’
Aspiring model, 18, objects to fellow students’ decision to reject the photo she submitted

18-year-old Sydney Spies wants a future in modeling, and she figured she would make that clear with her senior picture in her high school yearbook.

But the Durango, Colo., prospective graduate found herself embroiled in controversy when her school’s yearbook editors put the kibosh on running a photo of Sydney posing provocatively in a black shawl and short yellow skirt that exposed plenty of skin.

Sydney and her mother Miki Spies are butting heads with the yearbook staff and school administration over a case they believe smacks of censorship, and they appeared live on TODAY Monday to make their case that Sydney should be able to represent herself the way she wants in the annals of her school’s history.

“I honestly think (the picture) describes who I am,” Sydney told Matt Lauer in an exclusive interview. “I’m an outgoing person and I really do think it’s artistic.” read more from Today.com...

A Tale Of Two Cities: Tim Tebow’s Denver and Pat Sullivan’s Denver

facebooktwittergoogle_plusredditpinterestlinkedinmailby feather

Early morning talk-radio in Denver was buzzing with tales of sheriffs and judges gone bad, church pastors visiting male-prostitutes for meth and sex, underage boys (10-12 years) blindfolded and performing sex acts for adult males in a social-club, a wealthy business man flying his private jet to Denver for drugs and sex with boys, alleged rooms with (hidden) drugs, rumors of the newly elected mayor visiting prostitutes, and it goes on and on… NFL, and NBA stars, police officers, judges, lawyers, educators, and prominent Denver business “leader’s” names reportedly on a “sex & drugs (mostly meth) with boys” list.

Denver’s Tom Martino writes about it on his website.

CCC SEARCHED – ARE WE TWO STEPS AHEAD?

The Troubleshooter Network has known for some time that the Community Country Club (Triple C, for short) was linked to the Pat sullivan case.

That’s because our informants, all who claim to have been victimized by Sullivan, say he visited there often to hook up with young men.

A few weeks ago, Troubleshooter investigator Jonathan Elinoff, went undercover inside triple CCC.

What he found were young men lined up waiting for sex. And he found what looked like drugs more from troubleshooter.com

Here’s another story from Tom’s website.

THE SULLIVAN SAGA & MORE

By now you’ve probably heard of the incredible story of a former decorated and respected sheriff who traded methamphetamine for sex. You may have also heard that my initial research and investigation into these allegations and a subsequent meeting with law enforcement authorities was the primary reason for the recent hasty police investigation that resulted in Pat Sullivan’s arrest.

I say “hasty” because two weeks after we met with police, Sullivan was arrested. Did police have hints of Sullivan’s wrongdoing prior to our meeting? We think so. But we felt the information was not so eagerly pursued until police felt I was going to air the the story.

First, some background: It all began with a phone call to my office from a young man who claimed Sullivan was engaging in “drugs-for-sex” prostitution involving mostly young men. It sounded too crazy to be true. But one of my investigators (Jonathan Elinoff) decided to check it out. His investigation led him to other alleged victims of Sullivan. Eventually we had what I felt was incriminating evidence, including some audio and video tape that appeared to capture Sullivan saying things that could incriminate him.

We gathered the interviews, hidden videos, hidden audio recordings and various documents — that appeared to tie Sullivan to young homosexual men and methamphetamines!

Here are some of the bare bones items being alleged by various young meth addicts: read more from Martino

Here’s where the latest sex scandal began – originally posted here on December 2, 2011.

Sullivan to face more charges in meth for sex scandal
Former Arapahoe County Sheriff will face a new set of charges when he returns to court on Monday.

Former Arapahoe County Sheriff Pat Sullivan is already being held in jail for one count of distributing a controlled substance but now more charges are being filed against Sullivan including three felony counts and one misdemeanor.

Among the new charges are a count of attempting to influence a public servant, a count of pocession[sic] and a count of soliciting a prostitute.

Meanwhile, authorities say they have arrested the man who they believe supplied the meth Pat Sullivan used to exchange drugs for sex.

Investigators followed Sullivan to the home of Timothy Fasse in Denver. He was arrested on Tuesday and was charged with being in pocession[sic] of more than 2 grams of methamphetamine. Fasse is being held on $25,000 bond.

Sullivan is accused of offering methamphetamine in exchange for sex from a male acquaintance.

The 68-year-old former Arapahoe County sheriffis being held on a $500,000 bond. His next court date is December 5th where it’s expected he may face additional charges.

Sullivan appeared in court on Wednesday morning using a cane to walk. He appeared to have a bad limp. He was dressed in a jail-issued orange jumpsuit.

On 630 KHOW, Tom Martino and an investigator were onto the story weeks ago. They talked with meth addicts who say its was well known Sullivan would trade meth for sex.

A probable cause document released by authorities says two informants claim they had sex with Sullivan for meth or cash.
A sting was set up at a home that was outfitted with video and audio equipment. Sullivan was handling meth in the bedroom when he was arrested. There was a bag of meth on the bed and another bag on his person. Access this story

Memo from the editor of this blog: This story has just begun. Rumors of a murder are out there. The ex-sheriff was last employed at the Cherry Creek School System in Southwest, Denver.

“The investigation into Sullivan, 68, started with a traffic stop in Englewood on Nov. 17.”

“The man who was stopped consented to a search of his vehicle and police found drugs inside. The man then told police he had information about a high-profile figure. Sources tell 9Wants to Know that detectives were asked to come down to the Englewood Police Department in the middle of the night to hear the man’s story.”

“The information he provided jump started the investigation and lead to Sullivan’s arrest.” More from 9News.Com…

This information is from The Auto Channel.Com
FREDERICK, Colo., April 12 — UQM TECHNOLOGIES, INC. (AMEX:UQM)

Delivery Van is Part of a Fleet of Seven Hybrid Electric Cargo Vans and Four Hybrid Electric Shuttle Buses Operated at Warner Robbins Air Force Base; Delivery of Reduced EMI Hybrid Electric Shuttle Bus to Follow in May

FREDERICK, Colo., April 12 — UQM TECHNOLOGIES, INC. (AMEX:UQM) , a developer of alternative energy technologies, announced today that it has delivered a hybrid electric cargo van to the U.S. Air Force powered by a reduced electromagnetic emission (“EMI”) propulsion system and generator developed under a Phase II Small Business Innovation Research Grant. A hybrid electric shuttle bus, also modified to incorporate reduced EMI UQM(R) systems, is scheduled for completion under the contract in May. Both vehicles are part of a fleet of eleven Ford 350 chassis based hybrid electric cargo vans and shuttle buses operated at Robins Air Force Base under the management of the Advanced Power Technology Office (APTO) of the 542nd Combat Sustainment Wing.

EMI is a general term that describes electromagnetic phenomena arising from the movement of electric current and voltage including to or from electric motor/generators and power electronic inverters. In electrically propelled vehicles, electromagnetic emissions can cause interference with other electronic equipment onboard the vehicle or in the immediate vicinity of the vehicle. It is EMI that often causes excessive static on AM radios. For military vehicles, the generation of an electromagnetic signature presents additional challenges. Electromagnetic emissions can be used by enemy forces to detect and target the vehicle. Similarly, electronics onboard hybrid electric military vehicles are susceptible to damage from a new breed of electromagnetic pulse weapons that may be carried on the vehicle. The development of electric motor/generators and power electronic inverters with low EMI signatures and susceptibility is a critical requirement of future hybrid electric combat systems.

The cargo van contains a low EMI emission UQM(R) propulsion system and generator that reduced the EMI emissions from the baseline system by over 40 dB across most of the testing spectrum. In addition to reducing EMI emissions through conventional enclosures and concentric cables, EMI emission reductions were achieved through a proprietary commutation technique in the UQM(R) motor controller that reduces the harmonic content of the system.

The development of these advanced vehicles was funded under the Small Business Innovation Research (“SBIR”) Program administered by the U.S. Air Force’s APTO. The SBIR program is a highly competitive program that encourages small businesses to explore the technological potential and future commercialization probability for the products developed. APTO is responsible for the identification, assessment, transition and integration of advanced power technologies into warfighting support equipment, vehicles and other applications that support the entire spectrum of global deployment. The administration of these technology initiatives requires APTO to maintain a high level of technical competence in a wide-range of advanced technologies.

“This project to reduce the EMI signature of these hybrid vehicles, together with improvements in fuel economy, tailpipe emissions and the availability of 75kW of on-board power, is an important step in advancing the acceptance of hybrid vehicles within the Departments of Defense and Homeland Security. The delivery of this vehicle will be the first EMI reduced hybrid in our fleet and is an important milestone in the achievement of APTO objectives,” said Carl P. Perazzola, Lead Engineer at the APTO Office.

“The development of reduced EMI propulsion systems, generators and motor controllers is an important enhancement to our product line. The reduction of EMI emissions in electric and hybrid electric vehicles to acceptable levels can be a potentially significant issue, and we are pleased to have developed low-cost EMI reduction strategies for UQM(R) systems that allow them to meet EMI emission standards, including our proprietary method of reducing emissions during motor commutation,” said Jon Lutz, UQM Technologies’ Director of Engineering.
