Wynn was revealed as the Las Vegas casino owner who donated an anonymous gift of $500 each to 4,000 southern Nevada families in recent months. LAS VEGAS — To LeRoy Stapleton, $500 could mean the difference between prolonged homelessness and finding a job that could get him back on his feet.

“It would be a big help,” said Stapleton, who lined up with 30 other people outside a Las Vegas unemployment office Monday morning waiting for it to open. “You need money to make money. If I had some gas, I could find a job.”

A Las Vegas casino owner’s anonymous gift of $500 each to 4,000 southern Nevada families in recent months has had tongues wagging in a state with the highest unemployment rate in the nation. The $2 million gift to the United Way of Southern Nevada was the charitable organization’s largest donation to date, and for months, guessing the identity of the donor became a popular pastime in Las Vegas.

The first round of families received $500 bank gift cards just before Christmas 2011. Another 2,000 families received the donations Saturday in Las Vegas. The families were not told how much they would receive. Casino titan Steve Wynn confessed earlier this month to a newspaper columnist that he was the not-so-secret donor, but the families were never told Wynn was behind the funds read more…

PAWN STAR’S Bike-Expert, Danny Koker – A.K.A – The Count: COUNT’S VAMP’D Rock & Roll Club

facebooktwittergoogle_plusredditpinterestlinkedinmailby feather

Video is of the ZITO 77 band featuring Danny Koker at Count’s Vamp’d.

COUNT’S VAMP’D has been around a few years. This is a rock ‘n’ roll club that was co-owned by Motley Crue frontman Vince Neil. It is now owned by PAWN STAR’S bike-expert and way-cool, Danny Koker – AKA –The Count.

“Count Vamp’d is the old Feelgoods in Vegas that was opened by investors with Vince Neil of Motley Crue being a minority investor and marketer. Once Neil got divorced he had to sell his stake in the business and the name had to change. Vamp’d is a dracula-themed rock club, bar/restaurant. Yes, it’s all those things. Unfortunately, I have not caught a show there yet so I cannot speak to the concert setup or sound. I do know they attract national to local acts, George Lynch probably the biggest name that hits there regularly, and local Vegas Iron Maiden tribute band ‘Aces High’ is also a regular. The bar itself is very cool, has lots of guitars behind glass, cool decor, and rock-star type memorabilia.” more from Jim P

The Dracula inspired club is in suburban (west) Las Vegas on West Sahara (just East of Rainbow) at 6750 West Sahara Ave., Las Vegas NV. Formerly Vince Neil’s Dr. Feelgood’s Rock Bar & Grill, Count’s Vamp’d is a Rock & Roll Venue Bar & Restaurant.

Is Danny Koker an avatar of Dracula???

Count’s Vamp’d Official Website. You might want to listen to the background sound (song) on this website. I’m guessing it’s the ZITO 77 band. Regardless of who the band is they’re good. A very interesting (heavily effected) snare drum starts out running then continues with the other tasty drums and (cow)bell, then electric-guitars kick in: the bass-notes electric, playing low – maybe open strings – repeating a riff (yeah I know) with the second guitar, a high lead, weaving in and out. It’s basically a standard three-chord rock progression. Very authentic. Don’t quit until you hear the drum solo. Then stick around for the end. From the first time I heard the song I was hooked. This is just my opinion, William Carbone.

Full Moon

There will be yet another Full Moon, again in the sky, on February 7, 2012 at 1:56 P.M. Las Vegas time.

From the Old Farmer’s Almanac
Full Moon Names
February is the month of the Full Snow Moon.
Here are highlights of the February 2012 Moon! The Almanac’s monthly Moon guide keeps you informed about full Moon names, Moon phase dates, and Best Days by the Moon.

Full Moon Names
February’s full Moon is traditionally called the Full Snow Moon because usually the heaviest snows fall in February.

Hunting becomes very difficult, and so some Native American tribes called this the Hunger Moon.

Other Native American tribes called this Moon the “Shoulder to Shoulder Around the Fire Moon” (Wishram Native Americans), the “No Snow in the Trails Moon” (Zuni Native Americans), and the “Bone Moon” (Cherokee Native Americans). The Bone Moon meant that there was so little food that people gnawed on bones and ate bone marrow soup.

American Indians gave names to each of the full moons to keep track of the passing year. The names are associated with the entire month until the next full moon occurs. Since a lunar month averages 29 days, the dates of the moons change from year to year. Here are titles most closely associated with calendar months. Here is information for two tribes.

Teen in revealing yearbook photo flap: ‘It’s artistic’
Aspiring model, 18, objects to fellow students’ decision to reject the photo she submitted

18-year-old Sydney Spies wants a future in modeling, and she figured she would make that clear with her senior picture in her high school yearbook.

But the Durango, Colo., prospective graduate found herself embroiled in controversy when her school’s yearbook editors put the kibosh on running a photo of Sydney posing provocatively in a black shawl and short yellow skirt that exposed plenty of skin.

Sydney and her mother Miki Spies are butting heads with the yearbook staff and school administration over a case they believe smacks of censorship, and they appeared live on TODAY Monday to make their case that Sydney should be able to represent herself the way she wants in the annals of her school’s history.

“I honestly think (the picture) describes who I am,” Sydney told Matt Lauer in an exclusive interview. “I’m an outgoing person and I really do think it’s artistic.” read more from Today.com...

Gambler sues casino over gambling loss
A man is trying to sue a Las Vegas casino to recoup his $1.3 million in losses.

(UPI) — A gambler allegedly down $1.3 million to a Las Vegas casino is suing the casino, Wynn Las Vegas, for allowing him to lose more than $250,000, court paper say.

Konstantin Zoggolis from Germany is suing under the premise that he had a prior agreement with Wynn Las Vegas to limit his credit to a quarter of a million dollars, the Las Vegas Sun reported Thursday.

The lawsuit claims Wynn Las Vegas, which would not comment on the case, has asked the Justice Department to pursue the matter on grounds of Zoggolis passing bad checks.

The lawsuit also said, “If criminal proceedings are commenced against plaintiff at the direction of defendant in an effort to collect invalid debts, plaintiff will suffer irreparable harm before a decision on the merits can be rendered.”

Zoggolis is seeking an injunction to block the casino from pursuing the matter in the courts.

The suit says Zoggolis made arrangements with the casino in 2008 to limit his credit read more…

Las Vegas showgirls protest hotel resort fees

facebooktwittergoogle_plusredditpinterestlinkedinmailby feather

Original post from AP – Thursday, July 21, 2011 | 11:05 a.m.
The Associated Press

YouTube Video is from brad88ford.

Las Vegas headliner Marie Osmond and dozens of showgirls are protesting resort fees charged at many Las Vegas hotels.

Osmond and the roughly 50 performers from the Jubilee! show at Bally’s Las Vegas hotel-casino marched on the Las Vegas Strip Thursday morning to promote Caesars Entertainment’s no fee policy.

Caesars Entertainment claims its no-fees policy saves travelers $3 million per month.

Las Vegas resort fees are usually not included in an advertised room rate. They cover hotel amenities ranging from fitness center access and internet service to valet parking.

The event Thursday morning was dubbed a gesture of solidarity with the American consumer.

Magicians Penn & Teller and other entertainers also joined the protest.
