Take Easy Action for WY Wild Horses

“With roundup season starting up again, it is imperative, now more than ever, that we all raise our voices in support of our wild horses and burros. BLM is still soliciting comments for their planned roundup in Divide Basin, a larger herd in southern Wyoming near Rock Springs. We ask that you submit your own comments regarding the Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Divide Basin Herd Management Area (HMA). There are gross inadequacies and faulty data utilized in the scope of this EA which will come as no surprise. What is a bit more surprising is the rush to create a non-reproducing herd as an alternative, which is what they want to do to in White Mountain and Little Colorado! If a roundup is conducted this summer, the herd will be reduced to only 415 horses on over 700,000 acres with many of these horses being non-reproducers! Subject: White Mountain/Little Colorado Environmental Assessment Comments

Dear Sir;

I do not support the removal of horses from the Great Divide Basin Herd Management Areas and encourage you to select the No Action Alternative. Concluding that only 415 horses can live on this legal Wild Horse Herd Management Area, even though they roam on over 778,000 acres of public lands is truly unacceptable and unfair to the mustangs still living free, and to those of us who would one day like to see them in their natural environment in Wyoming. The idea of including an Alternative that allows for this herd to become a non-reproducing population is also unacceptable as well as dangerous for the horses and costly for those of us who pay your salaries.

I ask that you issue a new EA containing up-to-date, factual, realistic statistics with no discrepancies in acreage, census data, and reproduction rates before making a decision.

When you write your own letter, be sure to include some of the following points:
Increase the appropriate management levels (AMLs) and allocate a fair share of forage to wild horses over livestock.
BLM needs to address the clearly erroneous data they present for population stats
BLM statistics for FY2009 report there were 498 horses in the HMA, and the EA maintains that after a survey in April 2010 that the population was 1,004. This would mean that every horse, including stallions, gave birth and no deaths occurred
Using their 20% reproduction rate, a more accurate number of horses in 2011 would be 862 animals, not their estimated 1,640
Strongly urge the BLM to eliminate ‘Alternative D,’which would allow every horse to be rounded up and those slated for release would be spayed or gelded, resulting in a dead-end herd that would die out over time – very costly and dangerous for the mares and stallions.
Consider predator management as a viable population growth
Point out that taxpayers could save almost $500,000 in contractor fees as well as millions more from holding costs by not conducting this roundup!
Allow for a truly genetically viable herd with a 50/50 sex ratio
Protest the cruelty of removing old horses!

 “Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those who have died in our nation’s service. There are many stories as to its actual beginnings, with over two dozen cities and towns laying claim to being the birthplace of Memorial Day. There is also evidence that organized women’s groups in the South were decorating graves before the end of the Civil War: a hymn published in 1867, “Kneel Where Our Loves are Sleeping” by Nella L. Sweet carried the dedication “To The Ladies of the South who are Decorating the Graves of the Confederate Dead” (Source: Duke University’s Historic American Sheet Music, 1850-1920). While Waterloo N.Y. was officially declared the birthplace of Memorial Day by President Lyndon Johnson in May 1966, it’s difficult to prove conclusively the origins of the day. I’m ALL IN for Mette Lindberg, and “The Asteroids Galaxy Tour,” and their song, “The Golden Age” – with a pair of aces! One’s the Ace of Diamonds the other is the Ace of Clubs.

After hanging out on Facebook for awhile, I hit the bed and turned on the tube. That beer commercial with the sizzling-hot blonde came on and I went into my “got to find out who’s singing that song mode.”

This video contains the song by that blonde, Mette Lindberg and her band “The Asteroids Galaxy Tour.” The song is “The Golden Age.” I’m old and half/square and way behind on this one, but nevertheless – I’m All In.

I know that the song is at least eighteen-months old and has a track record. It is as compelling as anything I’ve ever heard. It almost has a fifties, girl-singer R&R sound. But definitely contemporary – influenced I’m sure, by Amy Winehouse, who I understand is promoting the band. There’s a little bit of Blondie’s “Rapture.” in there somewhere. Tinkling upright-piano keys, lagging snare and Mette’s little-girl voice start the tune, after Ms Lindberg swings a slender hip in – in-sync with the first snare hit. At the chorus her voice is doubled with one of the tracks a few clicks behind the beat creating a heavy echo, or they simply used an echo-effect, whatever. Clean, tasty punctuating horns end the chorus, then the little-girl voice returns with another magnetic verse. The second chorus is loaded with the rising horns punching on 2 and 4 and a flute weaving an improvisation. Guys (or gals,) if you don’t want to cuddle with this girl you’re dead and ain’t coming back.

The video showcases Mette, in a little black sequined dress (looking a bit like, Catherine Deneuvre,) with the band – performing in an arched ballroom at a Golden Age formal, house-party. Guests in dinner-wear are mingling in the up-scale mansion as a martial-artist does his thing, and someone scores two points dropping a basketball in a hoop which just happens to be set up in the fancy ballroom. Luscious scenery/sets/costumes.

The chorus is a very sharp hook and it stuck me. I’m stuck as well on Mette Lindberg.
Is this song already a hit or was it ever? Cuz, if it isn’t it should be.

Don’t mean to toot my own horn, but in the 60s I worked in the scrap/recycling business. In the 70s my gallery sold all handcrafted metalwork, some pieces created from recycled scrap metal, old square nails etc. In the mid-80s The LasVegasBuffetclub’s fleet RV sported a 12″ x 12″ solar panel that powered a small TV at night. It was wired to a motorcycle battery. Las Vegas was the perfect place for solar – Mega Sunshine.
