Life is Beautiful, Nunsense, Dayna Roselli and More
A reminder with a slight correction: Arthur Kasarjian is bringing us the Jay Harvey Production of “Nunsense,” the hit musical that has audiences laughing hysterically wherever it plays. It opens on Nov 2nd in the Kahunaville Dinner Theater at Treasure Island, not at a the Westgate as previously listed.
The “Life is Beautiful” festival proved that life CAN be beautiful as was seen in downtown Las Vegas from Sept. 25-Sept 27. The area was buzzing with 100,000 people who came out to see a multitude of musical acts. The weather was absolutely incredible. It shows you how the young rock ‘n’ rollers all get together for these monumental events and have a wonderful time without any violence. Though the festival fell short of the level of last years’ entertainers, there were entertaining acts like The Killers, Shamir, Snoop Dogg, and Imagine Dragons. The showstoppers were Stevie Wonder, Brandon Flowers, and Duran Duran. It boiled down to three 3 sets, 10 hours each, of non-stop music. Food and beer vendors, as well as local businesses, made money, thereby assuring that there will be more festivals to come for the next few years. Continue reading →
The following article is interesting, however the author – since he’s writing about rock & roll – takes the approach that he’s above it all, speaking down to us from his high-horse of being a rock and roll journalist, loading the article with the mandatory “sh–” and “fuc—-,” so juvenile. This is a warning, you may be offended.

It’s like the Louvre, but awful. -Derek Jensen
It never fails. I write something, someone doesn’t like it, and they feel the need to seek me out and tell me about it. It’s never really surprising, even if I don’t understand it. I can barely muster the energy to tell people I know personally how much I disagree with them. When I do, I almost always regret it. My recent Green Day screed touched a nerve, as my screeds tend to do. One of the most bizarre and common objections to my dislike of Green Day is that Green Day are in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Let me explain it like you’re 5: The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a scam. It’s not Cooperstown with guitars. The expert committee that “inducts” people is thinking about how to get tourist dollars into Cleveland, not how to preserve a legacy of one of America’s finest home-grown art forms. Don’t believe me? Ask Gene Simmons. If you think the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is any measure of how good a band is, you seriously don’t know shit about anything. Continue reading →

On Sunday night, September 27th, for the fourth time in the last 17 months, the Moon will once again become completely immersed in the Earth’s shadow, resulting in a total lunar eclipse.
As is the case with all lunar eclipses, the region of visibility will encompass more than half of our planet. Nearly a billion people in the Western Hemisphere, nearly a billion and a half for much of Europe and Africa, and perhaps another half billion in Western Asia, will be able to watch as the full Harvest Moon becomes a shadow of its former self and morphs into a glowing coppery ball.
It will also be the biggest full Moon of 2015, since on the very same day, the Moon will also be at perigee — its closest point to the Earth at 221,753 miles (356,877 km) — making it a so-called “supermoon.” Continue reading →

Behold, Everything Glorious Inside the New The Golden Tiki
by Susan Stapleton Jul 29, 2015, 1:00p @susanmstapleton vegas.eater.com
From top to bottom, The Golden Tiki might well be the most interesting bar in Las Vegas right now. Branden Powers’ new Chinatown gem has so many hidden treasures inside that you need to go again just to take in the great decor you may have missed the first time.
Maybe it’s the 24 original Bosko pieces on display. Maybe it’s the thatched roof over the bar. Or the talking tiki who puts on a show over the bar. Or the black velvet paintings that tell the story of the pirate William Tobias Faulkner and his influence on the bar. Or the giant conch shell seating area. Or the Hunter S. Thompson knife behind the bar. Or the tiki-inspired ashtrays, including those that blow smoke when you leave a cigarette inside (Don’t steal them. That’s not cool.). Or the treasure chest used for the the $499 VIP service. Or the $35 scorpion bowls or $45 zombie punches. Or the mismatched matchbooks from old school Las Vegas. Or the skeleton that puts on his own show. Or the giraffe bones. The waterfall. The lucky tiki you need to rub. The twinkle lights More…
What is a Blue Moon?
July brings two full Moons. Is one a Blue Moon?
by Bob Berman
July 28, 2015
July 2015 brings us two full Moons in the same calendar month. But which is a Blue Moon? And why is it called a Blue Moon? There’s been a lot of hype. Get the scoop here. http://www.almanac.com/blog/astronomy-blog/anti-blue-moon
The month of June’s full Moon’s name is the Full Strawberry Moon. June’s Full Strawberry Moon got its name because the Algonquin tribes knew it as a signal to gather ripening fruit.
It was often known as the Full Rose Moon in Europe (where strawberries aren’t native).
